Application Checklist

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Reside in Arizona

  • U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA Recipient or DACA Eligible, Undocumented  

  • High school graduate, community college student, transferring community college student, student attending an accredited four-year institution

  • Plan to enroll, or currently enrolled in, undergraduate study at an accredited two or four-year Arizona public college or university

  • Plan to enroll, or currently enrolled, full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours)  and maintain enrollment as a full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours) undergraduate student

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Demonstrated leadership and community service

Essay Requirements:

  • Personal Statement - Describe why you deserve to receive this scholarship.   

    • How do you stand out from other applicants?

    • What are your educational and career goals?  

    • How will this scholarship help you achieve your educational and career goals?

    • Elaborate on your school activities, community service/volunteer activities, awards/honors, and employment.

  • Special Circumstances   - Describe any special circumstances that you would like us to consider.

    • Provide details on your family background/experiences

    • Have you experienced any life challenges?

    • Have you experienced any financial obstacles?

    • Are there any other special circumstances that you would like to elaborate on?

Required Documents to Attach:

  • Please have these documents ready to upload before you start the application.

  • Transcript (most recent official or unofficial)

  • Two (2) signed Letters of Recommendation in support of your application from a non-family member (ie teacher, counselor, employer)

  • SAR or other documentation demonstrating Financial Need

Notification and Disbursement:

The Aguallo Foundation will notify scholarship recipients via phone or email in June 2017.  Awards will be disbursed directly to the recipient's college/university in two installments (fall and spring). Eligibility will be reviewed prior to the first installment and at the conclusion of each semester.  Scholarship recipients must maintain continuous eligibility to receive disbursements.
